Preschools

There were 916 special education teachers worked in preschool level and they all taught students with disabilities. Among them, 536 worked in itinerant programs, 339 in self-contained classes, and 41 in resource rooms. At preschool level, teachers who worked in self-contained classes, mostly taught in non-categorical classes (n = 249), few taught in classes for intellectual disabilities (n = 53), hearing impairments (n = 31), visual impairments (n = 4), and multiple disabilities (n = 2).

Among 701 formal special education teachers in preschool level, 700 were certified in special education and only 1 was certified in regular education. Among 215 substitute teachers, 76 were certified in special education, 33 in regular education, and 106 without a certificate.
